Apparently I am not keeping up with "hot news" as I just found out by reading my cousins blog.
Who knew there was a big controversy over a question in the Miss California pageant? Who knew they still HAD Miss California pageants?
I had to go from my cousins blog straight to google to check out the scoop. Apparently Perez Hilton, who was a guest judge on the Miss California Pageant asked a question about gay marriage. If I read correctly, he specifically asked "Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?"
I don't understand why this is relevant to a beauty pageant, but what I REALLY don't understand is why Perez Hilton was a guest judge? Who IS he? Since when does someone become famous for being an opinionated jerk?

I heard about this yesterday.
I'm all for same sex marriages. She was asked about what she thought and gave her opinion. It might not be our opinion but from what I hear Perez blew it way out of proportion and called her a nasty name.
I am NOT a fan of Perez Hilton and I don't think he speaks for gays of the world. I think she was honest - I don't think she answered the question as it was asked, but gave her opinion instead. It was still an honest opinion. I'm pretty sure she even SAID it was her opinion.
She did say her opinion. I just don't understand why this is news. So what? Who cares? She's whining that her answer cost her the crown. Well, ya, it did. But it's because her answer didn't actually answer the question asked. Who knows why Perez Hilton was even a judge.
The whole thing is ridiculous and it got/is getting more attention than it should.
